4 Things You Should Know About Natural Dish Soap

When curating an eco-friendly home, natural dish soap can be a simple swap for your family. Unlike some swaps, there’s no weird texture, scent, or unique way to use it. Instead you’re left with clean dishes, gently cleansed skin, and when you choose refillables, you’ll be left with a lot less waste!

1. Natural Dish Soap Works

Arguably the most important thing to know is that not only does natural dish soap work, but it holds its own compared to conventional dish soaps. We use plant-powered surfactants that are tough on grease, but gentle on your skin and easy on the planet. It’s a win-win.

We use a variety of plant-powered surfactants in our dish soap formula. A surfactant breaks the surface tension in liquids, allowing your dishes to become clean. We use the following:

  • Sodium C14-C16 Olefin Sulfonate might sound intense, but it’s derived from coconut and is known for creating a rich, foamy lather.
  • Lauramine Oxide is also derived from coconut. It’s great for creating a foamy lather, stabilizing the formula, and it can even act as an emollient and conditioner to soften and protect your skin.

We also use a plant-powered detergent, which is a non-soap cleaning agent. It helps to clean your dishes, but it’s not classified as soap. We use decyl glucoside which comes from corn and coconuts. It’s mild, gentle, and it won’t dry your skin like harsh detergents can.

2. Natural Dish Soap Skips the Fragrances, but Keeps the Scent

We use 100% organic essential oils in our natural Dish Soap so you can enjoy a fresh, clean scent without the skin irritation or headaches of perfumes. Our bestseller is Bergamot + Lime, a revitalizing scent that leaves your sink smelling herbaceous and crisp.

3. Natural Dish Soap won’t Dry Your Hands

Our plant-powered surfactants and detergents were chosen because they’re tough on grease, but gentle on your skin. You’ll find that after a sinkful of dishes, your hands won’t feel tight or dry, but gently cleansed.

4. Natural Dish Soap Is Easier on the Environment than Conventional Options

Unlike conventional soaps, our natural dish soap is easier on the environment because it’s packaged in a glass bottle, our formula avoids harmful chemicals that can contaminate our water and soil, it’s biodegradable, and it’s dye-free.

These benefits are amplified when using our Refill Kits. Each 3-litre refill box of natural dish soap replaces six 500mL plastic bottles! Which means every time you use a full 3-litre refill box you’re saving six plastic bottles from the landfill.

Since our launch in 2018, our community has saved over 100,000 plastic bottles from the landfill, and this number goes up every day.
